Odd Numbers (Integers)
Number (integer) is odd if it is NOT divisible by 2.
Alternatively, number is odd if it is not even.
Example 1. Determine whether 24 is odd number.
24 is even because $$$\frac{{24}}{{2}}={12}$$$ and 12 is integer number. Thus, 24 is not odd number.
Another example.
Example 2. Determine whether 17 is odd.
17 is not even, because $$${17}={2}\cdot{8}+{1}$$$ and remainder is not 0. So, 17 is odd number.
Now, do a couple of exercises.
Exercise 1. Determine whether 49 is odd number.
49 is not even, because $$${49}={2}\cdot{24}+{1}$$$ and remainder is not 0. So, 49 is odd number.
Another exercise.
Exercise 2. Determine whether 112 is even.
112 is even because $$$\frac{{112}}{{2}}={56}$$$ and 56 is integer number. Thus, 112 is not odd number.
