Proper Fractions

Proper Fraction is a fraction in which numerator is less than denominator.

Examples of proper fractions are 15\frac{{1}}{{5}}, 719\frac{{7}}{{19}}, 127128\frac{{127}}{{128}}.

Note, that 55\frac{{5}}{{5}}, 87\frac{{8}}{{7}}, 1253\frac{{125}}{{3}} are not proper fractions.

We saw example with cake, when talked about fractions. This is example of proper fractions.

Another example of proper fraction is when you divide rectangle into 7 parts and paint 5 parts: you paint 57\frac{{5}}{{7}}.

Since in proper fraction numerator is less than denominator then proper fraction is less than one.
