Proper Fractions

Examples of proper fractions are $\frac{{1}}{{5}}$, $\frac{{7}}{{19}}$, $\frac{{127}}{{128}}$.

Note, that $\frac{{5}}{{5}}$, $\frac{{8}}{{7}}$, $\frac{{125}}{{3}}$ are not proper fractions.

We saw example with cake, when talked about fractions. This is example of proper fractions.

Another example of proper fraction is when you divide rectangle into 7 parts and paint 5 parts: you paint $\frac{{5}}{{7}}$.

Since in proper fraction numerator is less than denominator then proper fraction is less than one.
